Japonica rice is nothing if not mysterious and intriguing. The rice looks black when dry, only to turn the color that I have only seen in blood oranges. We steamed the Japonica rice and made rice milk to replace the water portion of the soap recipe. Roasted seaweed was added to the rice milk.
Chemistry is a fascinating mistress, and the soap takes on the watery green of the seaweed rather than the stunning red of the rice. These briney bars have a bit of a swirl and are topped with a sprinkling of sea salt and Japonica rice.
Will it Shave? Absolutely! While not formulated to be shaving soap, the lather is fantastic for shaving.
Colorant: Colored naturally with seaweed. Titanium Dioxide used for the swirl.
